Chief Akudee Duru understands firsthand the barriers that poverty can impose. Though growing up in hardship, her tenacity led to great success as an adult. This drove her commitment to give back to vulnerable groups through transformative philanthropy.
Chief Duru is celebrated for uplifting infrastructure in disadvantaged areas - she has single handedly fixed damage inflicted on roads in her own community for years. Her empathy also shines through in women’s empowerment projects. Chief Duru has given grants for hundreds of women to help in their businesses. While Chief Duru enjoys affluence today, she never forgot where she came from. Her charitable efforts have touched thousands locally through scholarships, community hubs, electricity access ( after 15 years of power outage) and more.
